Barred Owl Near Nooksack River

When we pulled up to our campsite along the Nooksack River and saw this barred owl perched on a dead tree, I said to my wife, “There’s no way it’s going to stay there long enough for me to get my camera out, switch lenses, and capture good wildlife owl photography of it.” Well I was wrong. I’m still not sure what it was doing hanging out in a campground in broad daylight, but I was very happy to create this fine art owl photography print.
 
Fun fact: without owls we would have no forests left. You see, expert nighttime birds of prey like the one in this limited edition owl photography print, are responsible for keeping the rodent population in check. Without them, mice would take over and eat every seedling that sprouts, and thus decimate the forest in one generation. Yes, owls are that important, and the balance of nature is that delicate and beautiful. As a PNW nature and wildlife photographer, I’m in awe at the elegance of nature’s systems, this forest food web, and the beauty of this fine art owl photography print.
