This picture, which is one of our most popular fine art Mount Baker photography prints, was also one of the most challenging for me to get the timing right on. I'd been to this location on the Chain Lakes Trail several times before and the conditions we're never quite right for mountain photography art. It’s is called Iceberg Lake because it's covered in ice most of the summer and only opens up all the way late in the fall. And because you’re looking at the north face of Mount Baker, the sun only illuminates the mountain until about 10:30 in the morning. It's too cold to camp up there this time of year, and it's 4 miles from the trailhead, so to create this Mount Baker photography print by 10:00am, I had to start hiking in the dark, in 40-degree weather.
